Final Task CCR

Here is the CCR for my final task. Enjoy! Until next time, Danniella Miller signing off :)

Final Task

Here is my final task. I am so happy I was able to finish it. I hope you enjoy.

Finally Finished

This is it. I've finally finished my final task. I am so excited and scared. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I've realized how hard, yet intriguing and interesting the editing process is for me. It's hard how much I have to think and plan. However, it's interesting how I get to manipulate 10+ minutes of film into a concise 2-minute video.  It was a lot of work, but I was able to get it done and I'm so happy I was. I spoke with a couple of my peers and we did a peer review. Overall, my peers seemed to enjoy my opening sequence. They did mention how it was a bit confusing at first. Because of this, I spaced out the titles so more would be near the front. Being able to see some of my peers' work as well helped me look at this project from many different angles. It allowed me to work with peers and get the peer advice I craved from working alone, while still allowing me the freedom to work by myself on my own ideas. I hope that with the arc...

Last Stretch of Editing

I'm so happy to almost be done with my final task. I've been finishing up editing and I'm nearly done. The only problem is there is one scene when Katy is with her cat that keeps giving me an issue. I'm going to try to quickly refilm it alone. I don't think this should be much of a problem as I can simply use a tripod and get the shot. The hardest part of the whole reshoot would be getting back into costume for Katy. The darkness of the shot is really tripping me up. It feels too dark and moody in terms of lighting. Especially when compared to the rest of the opening sequence, this scene is very out of place. I did my best to lighten it up and tone the colors in Premiere Pro. The problem with this is that it made the scene stand out more than I had hoped. I plan to chat with a couple of my friends and peers in order to get initial feedback on my opening sequence. I have some questions I want to ask them after they watch the film. These questions will help me get a ...

Home stretch of Editing

Welcome back to the many misadventures I have during the editing process. I would like to say though, that the editing of this video has been relatively chill. I understand more of what I'm doing. Moreover, I'm having a lot of fun with making it look as video-game-like as possible. Now, for the issue. See, I tend to be a perfectionist. What that means for me in editing is that I've been spending hours editing small bits here and there. Instead of doing these bigger cuts, I've noticed I'm cutting every time there is an issue or something goes wrong. Eventually, when I watch through and see the cuts, I decide what should be needed or taken away. I had to change the color editing I was doing four different times. This is because I would rewatch it and dislike the way it was coming out. Because of this, I'm starting to worry even more I won't finish on time and to my satisfaction. In theory, I could rush it a bit and hit the deadline, but I really want to make ...

Problems While Editing

So, I've started the editing process. I've been working on solely editing for about a week though. I'm starting tog et very nervous about my time and managing it properly. I feel as though I have so much to do in such a short amount of time. Realistically, I know I still have around two weeks to finish and perfect my final task. However, with each clip I edit, I feel like time is going by faster and faster. In addition to this, I have other commitments that I might have to back out on so I give this project the attention it fully deserves. I volunteer at a museum in order to get my service hours for graduation. This is every weekend, all day both days. Because of this, I feel super tired when I get home from volunteering. Since I have school during the week and volunteering during the weekend, I'm starting to feel as if I don't have the time to devote to working on editing. What I plan to try out is volunteering only on Saturday. This will allow me to have Sundays ...

Intense Editing

Since the completion of filming, I've been nonstop editing. I'm so excited to but all the tools I've learned to use. I have so much to do that I barely know what to work on sometimes. When editing, I like to have the music done first. The idea of having jumbled noise while I'm trying to focus on editing is not very appealing. So, I got all the dialogue where it needed to be. I also made sure it was as clear as possible. I experimented with filming the audio again in a quieter area, but it completely changed the feeling I wanted. When I redid the audio, it felt copy-pasted on to of the video and it didn't feel very natural like the original audio did. I also fiddled around with the music in order to make it match when the main character, Katy, has her headphones in. That way, the audio becomes diegetic although it cannot be heard by anyone besides Katy. Having Katy listening to video game music seems fitting, as I envision her being a bit of a nerd. I am scared I mig...
