Hi everyone! Today will be the start of my new project, making a minute-long music video. Before anything else, I needed to choose my group. We could have up to four people in a group, but they all had to be people we could see on a regular basis. Due to the COVID-19, I felt incredibly unsafe trying to do that with anyone I didn't know beforehand and was close to them and their family and knew the precautions they were taking. Of my friend group, which is the aforementioned people I feel comfortable seeing on a regular basis (even though we always take precautions, some of them are high-risk and just because we're in a low-risk age group doesn't mean our parents and teachers are!) only one person is taking AICE Media. I didn't choose to do this project with him because we had very different ideas about what we wanted to do. We also agreed that even though we could see each other regularly, the risks were far too prominent to ignore. And due to all that, I have ended up working by myself. I'm okay with this, I think I will be able to perform just fine alone, but I am quite scared about filming as I'm not sure how I'm gonna have people starring in my video or what exactly I can do in terms of actors. As for the actual music I chose, I wanted to do a song I was familiar with and loved. This was mostly to do with the fact that I would be able to easily pullout a story from the music and tolerate listening to the music over and over when filming and editing. I pulled out my hundreds of favorite songs, hit shuffle, and wrote down the songs with the best stories that I could envision and be excited about when listening. After I got a nice long list of songs, I started listening to each song and writing quick summaries of the stories I thought I could convey through them. This allowed me to see exactly what I wanted to do and be able to explain it in my video, plus it lets me see what songs would be tricker than others. Eventually, I narrowed it down to three choices. Between these three, I was really excited about the ideas for all of them, so I asked for some outside help. I had my friends and family listen to the minute-long clips of each song I planned on using and asked their opinion on using them to tell a story. After that, I presented my ideas of a story to them and there was almost a unanimous decision that "Tu" by Maye was a clear winner and my idea for it matched up the best.
Here is the cover art to Tu. It's definitely gonna insipre some of my outfits and set choices for my video.
Until next time, Danniella Miller signing off :)
