Today is the day I decide what genre I want to do for my final project. After much deliberation, I've settled on doing a drama. I love the feelings I experienced so heavily when thinking about a drama much more than any other movie. A drama is so realistic and relatable. I wanted to create a film that would help the audience connect and understand themselves so much more or on a deeper level. Drama is so much more realistic than a horror movie about a possessed doll or an action movie about a superhero. Moreover, drama in real life is prevalent. It can permeate many aspects of life, which allow them to be relatable and understood by most everyone. I wanted to make a universal film, or about as close as that as I can get. Even if the things that are in my film haven't happened to my audience, I want them to understand and relate to the characters in many different aspects. When I was thinking of movies I had watched in each genre, the ones that most commonly stuck with me as being memorable were the dramas. There is something about seeing yourself in a movie and knowing you're not the only person who acts like that that allows a movie to have a deeper connection. Movies can change a person's perception of life, but any movie I could think of that had stuck with me and actually changed me were dramas. I want nothing more than to give people a new perspective on life in my movie. This will also give me a chance to able to express myself and my personal issues. Since drama is so relatable, I have plenty of it in my life. Being able to put some of that in my film allows me a place to express myself and move on. Seeing some of the characteristics in yourself in a movie is so important because it lets the audience know that they're not so alone, that they're not the only person that acts like that. It gives a person more insight into how their actions affect others as well. Overall, a movie in the drama genre is what I'm going with for my artistic vision in this movie.
Signing off,
