How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My project definitely challenges conventions instead of using them. The whole video is shot as a love story, which the audience might think is between two people. The actor also used love as a way to pull themselves out of their depressive ideals. For most people, that might be a significant other or a friend, but for the actor in this video it was themselves. The idea of this video was the expression of self-love, and I did my best to show how helpful it can be to someone struggling. As for social issues, this video wanted to show how there is almost a pandemic of self-hatred nowadays. People are depending on others for their happiness when there needs to be a focus on looking internally for that help.  Here is my final music video. Wow, this was a wild ride. I learned so much during the making of this video. Through a semi-unreliable neighbor, I learned to plan things with people you know you can trust, and if you can't find anyone just go with yourself. I was forced to explain my idea to someone else in order to get the result I wanted, which ended up being definitely better than anything I could do myself.  I learned the hard way how important it is to save my projects. I really hope I never have to deal with a lost project again. I've seen how important the save button now is and I'll be sure to use it more regularly. I also got to work on editing to the music. In the tedious manner I edited the video, I made the video look more cohesive with the music. It took a lot of time and effort, but in the end, I got a better project I'm proud of.  So, since my last blog, quite a bit has happened. I managed to lose all my progress on my video. Now, let me explain. I was editing my video and decided to render it so I would be able to watch it without having to let it load. So, as I'm waiting for the video to render, a message pops up that my computer is about to die. Usually, I have a couple of minutes to plug it in, but it ended up dying right away and basically reset. I immediately plug my computer in and turn it back on. As I open up Premiere, my work on the music video was completely gone. I was completely shocked and upset. I started looking up how to recover my work because all that it said I had done was import my files into the program. All of the tedious editing to the lyrics was gone. I'm looking through every file on my computer, every possible place where it could be. The reason I hadn't saved a separate copy and knew where it was was due to the fact that I was relying on the auto-save feature, but I didn...

 As of right now, I've started editing my music video. I had a lot of issues trying to align the music and finding what part of the music I wanted to use. I knew I wanted to edit to the music, with the scene switching every time the lyrics changed. This was also a little hard because if I changed the music placement, I would have to redo all the clips that I edited to the music previously. Originally, in my storyboard, I had another scene planned where the actor would be cloud gazing with the camera. I ended up being unable to film it the same day as I filmed the rest of my clips since the sun had nearly completely set by the time we were done with everything else. The next day was very cloudy and rainy, so I didn't want to film either and instead started doing a rough editing job and just vaguely putting clips where I wanted them. During this stage, I realized that if I started the video when maye starts signing, the one-minute video will end at an awkward place in the middle ...

 Today I filmed my music video. I had spoken with my neighbor about having her be the main actress in the video, but she kept blowing me off. I decided to do it with myself as the actress. I could take a couple shots with the help of a tripod, but for the majority of the shots I had to ask my mom for help holding the camera. This was hard because I would have to explain to her each shot so she could hold the camera the way I wanted her to. Many of my shots were done in a few takes. They weren't that complicated, but there were a couple shots that gave me quite a bit of trouble. Most notably, the dance scene. For this scene, I went on YouTube for point of view shots of people dancing together. It just felt like no matter what i did, the shot looked so unnatural. Eventually, I was able to get it down and look more natural, but I do still think this is my weakest shot in terms of realism. The skating shot was a lot of fun to make. First Scene: In this scene, the actor appears to have just woken up. The camera will be perpendicular to the actor, doing a bit of a pan. This will be in order to show the state of the room the actor is in, which will be messy and unarranged.  Second Scene: Here, the actor will be in a bathroom. The camera will be facing a mirror, which will help me do a transition. This transition is to show the actor getting ready but still looking quite sad. Third Scene: Here, the actor is sitting outside a door, watching the cars and people pass by. This is to show life passing the actor by. Fourth Scene: In this shot and the following ones, the camera will be pointing at the actor in order to create the point of view of another person. The camera's point of view will go to up the actor and lure them in, trying to improve the actor's mood and life. Fifth Scene: Here, the actor and the camera's point of view are playing and smiling.  Here we go for planning. I really like this part, as it helps me flesh out my ideas even more before I get started storyboarding. Props: As the scenes will mostly be outside, I don't plan on having many props. The big prop I have will be a bike, which will give the video a more carefree and naive feeling. I will also have a mirror, which will create a twist in the video I hope can be enjoyed. Costumes: I want the actors to wear flowy, ethereal clothing. The kind of bright but pastel colors that remind one of spring and flowers blooming, akin to the feeling of love. Something so bright and innocent you can't help but want to do what you can to enjoy it, but feeling so fleeting it might leave at any minute. This picture almost perfectly shows the kind of look I want the actor to wear. Location list: I plan to mostly film outside, so my front yard will play a big role.
